mom: i don't see why you need to go to s.a.t. prep anymore
me: really? (smiles)
mom: yeah...because i just don't think you've improved at all
me: those are some encouraging words, mom. you could have at least told me a white lie instead
mom: would you like to hear a lie?
me: well, a white lie from here and there won't hurt
mom: there is no such thing as a white or black lie. a lie is a lie.
me: (thinking to myself) oh my goodness...what my mom taught me in just a few seconds has been more useful than all of the knowledge i have acquired in the last couple of months i've spent in s.a.t. prep
